Aetna published and distributed this brochure for organizations and events to promote greater public safety. Printed for this distribution is an announcement for the Houston National Boat and Sport Show 1961, but the brochure could date a bit earlier. OCLC records several editions in libraries, always in single copies. The Aetna Life Insurance Company presented these printed Log Books to their customers and employees, each with numerous types of record keeping printed pages from mileage, gas totals, expenses, and daily log entries of their trips. It is dated 1910, but the person who owned it began using it in 1912. It belonged to Alfred Dohme of Baltimore, Maryland, and the entries begin July 3, 1912 through July 2, 1912. This log book records his trip to Europe starting at le Harve to Paris on July 2. The last entry was from Cologne to Arnheim on September 11. He kept meticulous and detailed notes of his trip as well as expenses - 34 pages of manuscript journal and memo notes, 34 pages of manuscript log notes and 4 pages of maintenance notes all in ink. One curious entry on the first page of the log on the first day of the trip in Kansas City records an accident with a trolley which resulted in the death of a little girl: "running over the girl cost us 600.00 - not to mention flowers, candy, etc. No liability insurance either -- and we sell it!"
