[nice clean book with no discernible wear; the jacket has a tiny closed tear and associated crease/wrinkle at the top of the front panel, another tiny closed tear at the bottom of the front panel, and a long vertical crease in the rear flap]. INSCRIBED and SIGNED on the ffep by all three authors: "For Norman [Lloyd] -- good, old and / loyal friend - with great affection / Walter Kohner / May 1984" [and] "Hanna Kohner" [and] "Frederick Kohner / with his best!" Love story about "two people separated by war and the Holocaust -- and miraculously reunited." Walter, preceded to the U.S. by brothers Paul and Frederick, both well established in the movie business (Paul as an agent, Frederick as a writer), was able to emigrate to the U.S. in the late 1930s. Hanna wasn't so lucky: she fled at first to Holland, then married another man (who subsequently died in Auschwitz), and eventually ended up in a concentration camp. "At the end of the war Walter learned that Hanna was still alive [and] began a search that would take him across a continent." The inscribee, actor/producer/director Norman Lloyd (1914-2021), is probably most widely known for his late-in-life role as "Dr. Auschlander" on the "St. Elsewhere" TV series, but was active in the theatre, television and movies from the 1930s until the 2000s, and numbered many of the Hollywood elite among his friends and colleagues.
