Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. First Edition. Assumed first edition - no printed date but published in 1929. This copy retains the very scarce original printed dustwrapper - the dustwrapper states '8th thous.' indicating a first or early printing. ***Near fine in dark-red cloth-covered bo…ards with black titles to the spine, and black borders to the spine and front board. The boards are still beautifully bright, having been protected by the dustwrapper - clean and unmarked. The head and tail of the spine are just very slightly creased. No bumps. Corners sharp. The top edge of the page block is clean, just slightly dusty. Interior pages really clean. No inscriptions. Spine tight. Paper stock slightly tanned with age. There is no front free endpaper, just the half-title page. ***In the original very thin and fragile dustwrapper which is largely complete - just a small chip out of the top edge of the spine, and some small areas of light wear and creasing at the edges [please see scans]. The dustwrapper retains the original publisher's printed price of 7s. 6d. net. The spine of the dustwrapper is surprisingly clean but there is some fading. ***190 mm x 130 mm. 256 pages. ***'x.' [Wiki] ***A first or very early printing of the true first edition of this pre-war novel, in beautiful condition. Whilst the book itself is uncommon, copies in the original dustwrapper would be virtually unobtainable now. The dustwrapper is a very fragile item. Only two libraries appear to hold a copy of this book according to JISC (COPAC) - the British Library and the National Library of Scotland. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc. ***.
