Die Tochter eines aus Rotterdam stammenden Pfarrers studierte seit 1793 in Genf bei P.-L. de La Rive (1753-1817) und G. Vanière (1740-1834). Um weiterhin am Zeichenunterricht von De La Rive teilnehmen zu können, folgte sie diesem nach Bex/Waadtland, wo später wohl auch das vorliegende, koloristisch eigenwillige, großformatige Aquarell entstand. Auf Reisen in Italien bildete sie sich weiter. 1802 heiratete sie den Physiker und Astronom Jacques Eynard (1772-1847). Befreundet war sie mit dem bekannten Schweizer Schriftsteller Karl Viktor von Bonstetten (1745-1832). Sie bevorzugte das Landschaftsbild, malte aber auch hervorragende Porträts und Historienbilder. 1835 beteiligte sie sich mit einem Landschaftsbild an einer Ausstellung im Genfer Musée Rath, das dieses anschließend erwarb.
