Paperback: 7¼" x 4¼". Condición: Very Good: Light signs of wear. 1971 Edition. © 1952: A stand-alone novel by Robert A Heinlein. 1st printing of 1971 paperback edition. Originally serialised in 3 parts in Boy's Life - September, October & November 1952 under the title 'Tramp Space Ship'. Originally published in book form under the title 'The Rolling Stones':- Synopsis: This Heinlein venture into the unknown stars the Stones - a moon-based, progressive family whose 'un-heavenly twins', Castor and Pollux, buy a second-hand spaceship and steer the family through an eventful trip to the Asteroids. The space family Stone encounters all sorts of obstacles, among them the Gravity Well and a 'flat cat' from Mars. Their journey in 'The Rolling Stone' bears a satirical resemblance to space serials on TV and, as the author tells it, pokes good-humoured fun at our inability to judge what is fantasy and what is fact in our conceptions of the Space Age. The name of Robert Heinlein, author of 'Stranger In A Strange Land', grows with each new book in his NEL series. This latest addition shows yet another facet of his genius:- (original cost £0.30 (6')). Cover Art: Gordon C Davies (ilustrador).…

Paperback: 7" x 4½". Condición: Very Good: Light signs of wear. 1956 Edition. © 1951: A collection of 10 short stories by Robert A Heinlein that are 2nd in the 'Future History' series of books. 1st printing of 1956 edition. Pan Books #377:- Contents: Delilah And The Space-Rigger / Space Jockey / The Long Watch / Gentlemen, Be Seated / The Black Pits Of Luna / 'It's Great To Be Back!' / '- We Also Walk Dogs' / Ordeal In Space / The Green Hills Of Earth / Logic Of Empire:- Synopsis: 'The Green Hills Of Earth' is a thrilling successor to this author's previous book, 'The Man Who Sold The Moon'. The stories it contains are independent in themselves, but each is a brilliant vignette from the overall picture of life in the 21st century which the author has built up. What is this life like? Men and women are still much the same, and they are still proccupied with their personal problems. But how those problems have changed! In 'Space Jockey' the pilot of a space-ship is trying to land his passengers and cargo with ten percent less fuel than is safe, and at the same time worrying about his wife's fidelity; in 'Logic Of Empire' a lawyer and his friend, under the influence of drink, have signed themselves into virtual slavery on Venus; and in 'The Long Watch' a young man must choose between joining a military coup aimed at world dictatorship and stopping it at the cost of his own life. Others have much simpler problems. In 'It's Great To Be Back', for instance, a young married couple, returning to Earth after several years, are astonished to find themselves homesick for the luxury of Luna City on the Moon. Most of the characters are not the conventional bold explorers of space, but ordinary, homely people facing up to the fantastic but strangely plausible existence Mr Heinlein has given them:- Review(s): "As studies of the large-scale effects that various inventions could have on society his stories are not only dramatic but unusually convincing" - Time And Tide:- (original cost 2'). Condición: Very Good: Light signs of wear. 1971 Edition. © 1948: A stand-alone novel by Robert A Heinlein. 1st printing of 1971 edition:- Synopsis: Appearing for the first time in paperback, Heinlein's 'Space Cadet' tells a truly marvellous story of young men opening up new territories in space, and introduces a hero to equal the great pioneers of history. The story is about the young men who are training to be officers in the Interplanetary Patrol. The hero is Matthew Dodson, who becomes involved in a rescue operation on a distant planet. It turns into a disaster, but he finally extricates the leaderless team and reaffirms the glorious interplanetary traditions of bravery, resourcefulness and revolutionary brotherhood.
