It provides international students and film enthusiasts with a comprehensive survey of the country's film history. This book is an extended and updated English edition of the Turkish cinema sections previously published in Rekin Teksoy'un Sinema Tarihi (Rekin Teksoy's History of Cinema) by Oglak Yayinlari in 2005. Rekin Teksoy looks at the history of Turkish cinema within the framework of the political, economic and social changes during the Ottoman and the Republic periods. For those readers not familiar with certain events and historical figures, brief and concise explanations are provided within the text, in the footnotes and in the chronology. Rekin Teksoy's lectures and writings on Turkish and international cinema has been an invaluable source for Turkish film enthusiasts, scholars and students throughout the years.".
