The covered topic in this book refers to the phenomenon of code switching between (French / Algerian Arabic), (Algerian Arabic / French) in the Algerian mass media within the scope of discourse analysis. It hypothesises that the Algerian media are loaded with instances of code switching and their use is not random because there are purposes behind its utilisation. This work lies within the field of sociolinguistics and brings a small reflexion on the functioning and the characteristics of the use of code switching especially to understand much better why this strategy is used. We assume that the (French / Algerian Arabic), (Algerian Arabic / French) strategy, used by the mass media such as newspapers, and television in particular, has a huge influence on the public. And consequently it attracts as much people as it can because it facilitates undestanding and helps in the fluidity of speech.
