Sinopsis
In 1993 three institutes belonging respectively to the Heidelberg Academy for Humanities and Sciences, to the Russian Academy of Sciences, and to the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, launched a cooperative research project. The main aim of the project is to develop mathematical methodologies needed for better information support in health policy decision-making in the area of primary health care provision for the Russian populations affected by radiation due to the Chernobyl accident. At present, the major data basis of the project is the Russian National medical and Dosimetric (Chernobyl) Registry administered at the Medical Radiological Research Centre, Obninsk. The book describes the general mathematical approaches to the project and the given conditions of the registry.

Ziel war die Entwicklung mathematischer Modelle auf Basis des Russischen Nationalen Medizinisch-Dosimetrischen Registers (RNMDR) in Obninsk. Das RNMDR ist die zentrale staatliche Datenbank Russlands, die seit 1986 alle medizinischen, epidemiologischen und strahlenhygienischen Daten der von der Tschernobyl-Katastrophe betroffenen Bevölkerung sammelt, prüft und wissenschaftlich auswertet. Es ist die größte und detaillierteste Strahlenexpositions-Datenbank der Welt. Der Band ist wichtig, weil er: damit eine der frühesten systematischen mathematischen Modellierungen der Tschernobyl-Folgen dokumentiert, dabei die Struktur und Qualität des RNMDR detailliert beschreibt (eine selten zugängliche Quelle) und methodisch anspruchsvolle Modelle (Semi-Markov, multiple Risiken, Heterogenität) auf reale Strahlendaten anwendet. Ohne dieses Register wären viele heute gesicherte Erkenntnisse über Schilddrüsenkrebs, Leukämien, kardiovaskuläre Erkrankungen, psychosoziale Folgen und Dosis-Wirkungs-Beziehungen nicht möglich.
