"Do you want to build a snowman . . . by coding? Combining the website Code.org with the cast of the popular Disney film Frozen, this guide introduces readers to computer programming, or coding, through the block-based language Blockly. It should be noted that Code.org is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to and participation in computer science by female and underrepresented minority students. The website is free to use, but an account is needed to save projects. An initial 'tour' describes the three main areas of the website: the play space where the code runs (and makes drawings), the toolbox where the blocks are stored, and the workspace where you build your code by dragging and manipulating blocks. The bulk of the book, however, comprises increasingly challenging coding projects with step-by-step directions. The end results feature drawings of snowflakes and snowmen that Frozen's Anna and Elsa's ice skates create. Along the way, students learn about sequencing, loops, debugging, patterns, nested designs, functions, and other coding terms. Concluding sections allow children to let it go and design their own coding creations."--Booklist
