This is the complete history of the self propelled car. These first came into use in the 1890ies and by 1915 it had been perfected to a degree that these early cars were called doodlebugs. By the 1920ies the Budd company had started to build airplanes in stainless steel which lead to some auto work and then to train cars. Doodlebugs were heavy and by 1931 Budd had delivered a stainless steel car to the Reading Pa railroad. This is the history of the Budd self propelled cars.
