Charles B. Corbin, PhD, is a professor in the department of exercise and wellness at Arizona State University, a curriculum consultant to multiple school districts, and coeditor of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports Research Digest. Corbin has dedicated his life to promoting fitness and physical activity for people of all ages, with a special emphasis on youth. Respected by teachers, scholars, and researchers alike, he was named an Alliance Scholar by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance; he was named a Distinguished Scholar by the National Association for Physical Education in Higher Education. He has received the Healthy American Fitness Leader Award from the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, the national Jaycees, and Allstate Insurance. Corbin has authored more than 200 professional and research publications and more than 30 books, including Concepts of Physical Fitness, tenth edition (a college text that received the prestigious McGuffey Award) as well as Fitness for Life, fourth edition, which received the Text and Academic Authors Association Texty Award. Ruth Lindsey, PED, is a professor emeritus at California State University at Long Beach and a recognized leader in physical activity and fitness with special expertise in biomechanics, kinesiology, questionable exercises, nutrition, and physical activity for senior adults.
