Sinopsis

Excerpt from Auricular Flutter

The deeper insight that was gained by Mackenzie's methods of studying the heart disclosed the fact that many cardiac problems required re-investigation from the standpoint of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and therapeutics. Some of these problems have apparently been solved, while others still await elucidation. Within the last decade the most notable advance in the study of the heart has been effected by the introduction of Einthoven's3 string galvanometer. By means of this instrument, as well as by the methods introduced by Mackenzie, it is now possible to study the action of the heart with a precision that was formerly unattainable, and the prognosis and treat ment of cases of heart disease have consequently been placed on a more rational and scientific basis.
