Mike Ripley was born in 1952. As well as being a noted critic and Lecturer in Crime Writing, he is the author of the ‘Angel’ series of crime novels, for which he has twice been the recipient of a Crime Writers’ Association Award. Working with the Margery Allingham Society, he completed the Albert Campion novel left unfinished, Mr Campion’s Farewell, and has written further continuation novels in the series.
When your name is Werewolf; when you've broken your leg and are being held to ransom in a foreign country for a consignment of drugs you didn't even know you were carrying, who else are you going to call?
And when Angel gets the call from his old and disreputable friend, he just has to have a piece of the action. On the trail he encounters Werewolf's brother Gearoid, a second rate but very loud heavy metal band and the mad, bad and definitely dangerous-to-know Lucinda L. Luger. And then he has to face the bad guys.
Assembling his weird and wonderful invasion force, Angel lands in France and rides to the rescue. Will his impoverished cavalry arrive in time? No problem.
‘Ripley produces funny lines as often as most people breathe’
THE TIMES
‘The best yet in the Angel canon. Nobody does it like Ripley, quite the deftest hand in comic crime’
LITERARY REVIEW
‘The speed and exuberance of one-liners make it irresistible’
