A moving collection of 366 daily doses of Buddhist philosophy and mindfulness lessons, tailored to the modern world.
In today’s fast-paced lifestyle, finding moments of peace and reflection is more valuable than ever. Authors Pema Sherpa and Brendan Barca have been teaching Buddhism to individuals and organizations around the world through speaking engagements and trainings to help increase work performance, find direction, and improve overall mindfulness and wellbeing.
Both came to Buddhism differently, at different times—Pema, born and raised in Nepal, was taught Buddhist philosophy from a young age, and Brendan discovered the philosophy later in life to help manage corporate burnout. Together, they’ve brought these time-honored practices and teachings into the modern world, combining their different backgrounds and understanding to most effectively convey the complex ideologies behind Buddhism.
The Daily Buddhist is designed to seamlessly integrate the rich wisdom of Buddhist philosophy into your daily routine, offering insights that inspire mindfulness, contemplation, growth, and inner peace. Each page brings a new quote, interpreted and explained for the modern reader, with meditations, exercises, and questions to ponder to bring the reader deeper into the teachings. Each quote’s explanation not only deciphers ancient teachings but applies them to modern dilemmas, proving that timeless wisdom is always relevant.
The book is broken into four parts: Reflections on Life and Death, Looking Inwards, Extending Outwards, and Taking Action, with each month-long chapter focusing in on a specific teaching. The book teaches, in incremental doses, how to:
Whether you’re new to Buddhist teachings or currently walking the path, the daily quotes serve as gentle reminders of how and why we should all live with compassion, mindfulness, and purpose.
