Descripción del artículo del vendedor

London. 1947. The Phoenix Press. 1st British Edition. Some Foxing, Otherwise Very Good in Worn Dustjacket With Some Small Pieces Missing. 120 pages. hardcover. keywords: Poetry Translated Anthology World Literature. DESCRIPTION - The original aim of the Editors of this series was to produce annually a small collection of translated poetry, amounting to little more than a sheaf of translations. Accordingly, in 1945, the first number was published as a slim paper-bound volume, but the response it evoked was such that it was decided with this number, and subsequent issues, to adopt the more permanent and durable form of a book. In the present collection fifteen languages are represented by the newly translated works of over one hundred poets, including Sappho, Horace, Dante, Lorca, Gabriela Mistra1, Baudelaire, Valery, Apollinaire, Holderlin, Heine, Rilke, Franz Werfel, Pushkin, Solovyev and Boris Pasternak. It has benn one of the primary aims of this series to publish as much material of contemporary origin as possible, especially work written during the years of occupation in Europe. Some of the poems chosen here have never been published in this country before. For the poets writing after 1900 a select bibliography has been compiled, which, whilst in no way being comprehensive, may help readers to pursue the works of poets too recent to be found in literary histories. The translators include Norman Cameron, Roy Campbell, Lord Dunsany, Herbert J. C. Grierson, John Heath-Stubbs, T. F. Higham, J. B. Leishman, E. Allison Peers, V. de S. Pinto, H. de Vere Stacpoole, R. C. Trevelyan and Vernon Watkins. inventory #17527 Some Foxing, Otherwise Very Good in Worn Dustjacket With Some Small Pieces Missing.…
