Three volume set. All hardcover, H 21.75cm x L 13.75cm. Uniformly bound in contemporary full leather. No bindery marks but certainly the product of a better London shop. Brown leather boards and spine with some rubbing, stains, soiling, and surface scuffs; boards decorated with thin ruled gilt borders and gilt tooled inner dentelles; spines have six gilt bars delineating thee decorated compartments plus two gilt lettered brown title labels (sharing "Summer on the Gospels" as top label respectively followed by "St. Matthew & St. Mark" | "St. Luke | "St. John." Each with sewn-in cloth ribbon pages marker. Yellow endpapers; some foxing/toning to interior leaves; each volume with non-authorial ink gift inscriptions - one dated February 1837 and two dated March 1837 - on their respective front free endpaper versos.
