Descripción del artículo del vendedor

A very scarce nineteenth-century French lesson book by education writer John Charles Tarver. The first edition of this very scarce work.In full calf binding.A 'simplified' approach to learning the French language, with many reading lessons throughout and the translations to the rear index.Written by John Charles Tarver, an English education writer and French master at Eton, a post which he held from 1826 for the remainder of his life.Bookplate of Egerton Parker to the front pastedown. Parker was a teacher and house master at Hereford Cathedral School for over twenty years. Generally known as Ege Parker, he is fondly remembered for his enthusiasm and knowledge of history. In full calf binding. Externally, very smart, with minor rubbing to the extremities, most notably to the spine head. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with only the odd spot. Bookplate of one Egerton Parker to the front free endpaper. Very Good Indeed.
