A slightly unusual copy of this interesting set. Roland Trimen (1840?1916). Considered to be Trimen's most important publication, these volumes describe 380 species of butterfly and were written while he was curator of the South African Museum and after his presidency of the South African Philosophical Society. He became one of the leading authority of his time, but was mostly concerned with taxonomy. As a result, most specimens were collected for him by other people, including naturalist James Henry Bowker who also became a renowned authority on the subject. Vol. I Nymphalidæ, vol. II Eycinidæ and Lycænidæ, vol. III Papilonidæ and Hesperidæ. N° de ref. del artículo 012345
