Stained, rubbed and water marked embossed brown boards, and worn spine lettered in gilt. Internally original yellow end papers, font paste down with erased address; water mark lower corner ffep and name in pencil on reverse side; paper cutting glued to half title; engraved frontis and its tissue guard foxed and frayed; title page grubby. Approx. six 1 cm strong brown blobs in text; occasional grubby pages. All plates collated; grubby and significant water marks affecting plates 4 to 12. Pp xi, (1) illustrations, 174.
