A collection of ELEVEN BRITISH PARLIAMENTARY ACTS relating to pirates and piracy. London: 1700, 1715, 1718, 1720, 1722, 1745, 1799, 1806, 1825, 1850, and 1850. All first editions. Royal coats of arms and decorative initials. Neatly extracted from bound volumes. The laws prescribed that charges of piracy, felony and robberies were to be heard and tried in any place at sea or upon land, in any islands, plantations and colonies (including those in America), dominions, forts or factories, rather than requiring trials to be held in England. Piracy was considered a capital crime, and the penalty for conviction was execution.
