Faint pink discoloration on rear of DJ. Winner of the 1961 Newbery Honor award, Old Ramon is a touching young-adult story of a boy, two dogs, and an elderly Hispanic shepherd in the Mojave Desert. Interestingly, the line drawings in the book are illustrated by Harold E. West, father of Archie West, the inspiration for Schaefer's 1963 book, and title character, Monte Walsh.
