Original Photograph. Image: 3.875"x5.5". Mount: 4.25"x5.75". Full-length, studio image. Gall is dressed in a handsome coat, with fur collar and cuffs, fringes across upper chest and down the full-length of his sleeve. Moccasins and full-length leather pants with fringes down the full length of outer seam. He has a shirt under his coat, and a very large cross on his upper chest (approximately 11"-12" long and 6" across). Gall's hair is parted in the middle and braided with what appear to be ermine skins, and he wears a single eagle feather. He is resting or leaning against a bench/chair with a studio background. Chief Gall was a famous and important military leader among the Sioux, and was a leader in the defeat of Custer at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. With the encouragement of U.S. Indian Agent, Major James McLaughlin, Gall became an opposition leader against Sitting Bull on Standing Rock Reservation. Barry's logo and address on back of mount.
