The story covers three important months in the life of Niccolo Machiavelli, a Florentine politician, diplomat, philosopher and writer in the early years of the 16th century. A First Edition, First Impression in very good condition. The binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine bright. There is shelf wear to the top and bottom edges of the spine and an indentation to the top and bottom edges of the back board. The toned end papers and pages are free from tears and inscriptions. There is foxing to all the edges. The unclipped dust jacket, protected in a clear, removable cover is in good condition with loss to the edge of the front cover, loss to the top and bottom edges of the spine and a darkened back cover.
