Includes typed and signed statement of authenticity from original collector that this was Ayn's personal copy. This volume is housed in a custom clamshell with royal blue cloth and gilt titles with Rand's classic facsimile signature below: "From Ayn Rand's Library, For the New Intellectual, Ayn Rand." Case with moderate shelf, corner wear. Includes original typed and hand signed letter from the manager of Palo Alto Book Service - Books By Mail Worldwide then located at 200 California Avenue. This letter or Certificate of Authenticity states: "In December 1984, we obtained from the Executor of Ayn Rand's Estate a number of her books which she personally had owned. One of them was this copy of FOR THE NEW INTELLECTUAL, 5th printing which we sold to Bob Peterson in November, 1985. 'Jan Austin, Manager.'" Stated Fifth Printing at copyright page. She concludes the title essay by explaining the necessity for a type of new intellectual obtaining prominence.
