Gilbreth was a pioneer in motion control studies, and though he worked closely with Frederick Winslow Taylor for a number of years, the two fundamentally disagreed about the purpose of motion control. Taylor hoped to increase speed and profits for firms, while Gilbreth sought improvements that would benefit workers directly.
