Stout 8vo. Pp. 309. Illustrated with b&w photo reproductions. Printed by Shaw and Borden. Decorated endpapers. Red cloth stamped with gilt on front cover and spine. A particularly bright copy with no detracting qualities. At the time of publication Myers counted 57 consecutive deer hunts in his recreational career. He also declares the Spokane River to have been the finest fly fishing stream in the State of Washington, and that it remained valid after two WWI-era dams were constructed on the river, but that the dumping of untreated sewage in the river, which continued at the time of writing (1948) created an unmitigated disaster. Myers moved to Washington in 1888 and settled in Davenport. Teacher, politician, civic leader, jeweler, store keeper, optometrist, and sportsman, Lincoln County pioneer Charley Myers was a highly respected man and much beloved citizen. Myers was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, who was Chairman of the Lincoln County game commission, as well as a State Senator (1909-1913). "In MEMOIRS OF A HUNTER Myers has drawn upon his many experiences in the mountains, on lakes and streams, and in the field. The stories he relates are filled with humorous incidents and practical comments which make them at once interesting and helpful, not only to the novice, but to the seasoned outdoorsman as well." [from the dust jacket] The book tells of his 38 consecutive annual deer hunting expeditions with a group of friends including Judge C A Pettijohn and Jim Goodwin. The book is inscribed by fellow outdoorsman, Harold Ralph Beeman (1923-2005), long time member of the Okanogan Fly Fishing Club, to "Gordon" (possibly his son?). Nº de ref. del artículo: 008741
