ABOUT THE AUTHOR: T. E. Oertel, M.D., was a professor of histology, pathology, bacteriology, and clinical microscopy, medical department of the University of Georgia. EXCERPT FROM THE PREFACE: "In this day of multiplicity of medical books none venture to afflict the medical public with a volume which is not called for by some legitimate voice. Believing this, I have still brought forth the following work. Microscopy is a new and a growing science. Those of the profession who are graduated more than a decade ago for the most part received scanty instruction in laboratory work, and since that time much has been added to the technique of medical microscopy. There are many who are unable o avail themselves of a post-graduate investigation as will be helpful to them in their daily practice. the more complete works on microscopy offer to such an one a bewildering mass of material from which he is unable to cull that which will be of service to himself. It is to the beginner in microscopy, and particularly to him who must work without the advantage of the personal guidance of a teacher, that the book may prove of value." CONDITION: This book is in overall "very good" condition, with some rubbing and wear to the cover and spine, and corners are slightly bumped. Some discoloration spots and scratching on all edges. Endpages are in a light green color, and show discoloration. Leaves have evenly toned with only a small amount of foxing, primarily found within the front and back flypapers. Some foxing on the title page. With the exception of a previous owner's name written in ink on the front pastedown, this book is completely free from marginalia, annotations or creasing. Some places within the gutter show exposed stitching, (between pages 230-231), yet the binding is sound and pagination is complete. A fascinating, solid, and beautiful copy. Additional photos available upon request. Full refund if not satisfied.…

Descripción de la tienda

Since 2005, Shelley and Son Books has been passionate about books, and preserving their importance for current and future generations. We believe that virtue and beauty have a close relationship. By reading we gain knowledge. In knowledge we find things that inform our choices and beliefs. Therefore, as booksellers, we see that books have an aesthetic value and a heuristic value. We specialize in The Inklings, primarily "The Seven'": C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Dorothy Sayers, G. K. Chesterton, George MacDonald, Owen Barfield and Charles Williams. A sub-specialty is our significant collection of Christian Theology. But you'll also find works across the centuries, first editions, signed copies, and even modern books, too, across a broad selection of categories and genres. Customer service is of utmost importance to us, and our friendly staff is always happy to help. We assure our clients books of quality, as each copy is carefully graded and shipped with care. Located in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, we can be found on Main Street in Hendersonville, North Carolina, (just south of Asheville). We are primarily an online bookstore, but we invite you to make an appointment for an on-site visit! Shelley and Son Books is owned by Stan Shelley. …
