London: Martin Lawrence Limited [1928][Publication date from dated introduction by Gantt, the translator]. 8vo (240x170mm), 414pp. Frontispiece portrait with tissue guard, illustrated throughout the text. Good. Original teal cloth binding with gold gilt lettering on the spine. Boards and spine sunfaded, lots of scratches on the spine and light fraying of the cloth at the top of the spine. The textblock is largely square with a very slight bow, there is a slight looseness to the spine laterally, but there are no signs of any structural issues with the binding. Internally the pages are clean with only very light foxing on the endpages, which is absent from the rest of the pages. Pencil marks from a previous bookseller on the front pastedown.…
