First English Edition Set. Winston Churchill's impassioned two-volume biography written in defense of his maligned father's posthumous reputation. It was subsequently issued in an unabridged one-volume edition. A bulwark of any Churchill collection. This is a good-very good First English edition set. The bindings are square but there are repaired hinge breaks front and rear in Volume I and at the rear in Volume II. The gilt lettering is quite bright and the cloth is still a strong unfaded red. There is a former-owner's name in ink discreetly on the front free endpaper of both volumes. The contents are intact but lightly foxed throughout. 8vo (584 pages, and 544 pages, illustrated, with tissue protected photo frontispieces.) (Cohen A17.1) (Woods A8a). N° de ref. del artículo 146823
