FIRST EDITION. SCARCE. Rebound (quarter bound) in leather and period marbled boards. Gilt lettering on spine. Contains fold-out copies of some documents being discussed. This was a library copy, and there is still a catalog number on the spine as well as stamps on the text block. Cover has moderate edge wear, with exposed board at corners. Corners are bumped. Leather lightly worn on ridges of spine and at head, as well as along the shoulder. Front and back boards are faded and show rubbing. Text block is tanned, with deckled edges. Writing in pencil on pastedowns. Back pastedown and fep show where glued items were removed. A few pages have writing in the margins.
