CONTENTS 1. The Hunger Games ISBN 9781407109084 Scholastic UK edition, 2009 2. Catching Fire ISBN 9781407109367 Scholastic UK edition, 2009 3. Mockingjay ISBN 9781407109374 Scholastic UK edition, 2010 Complete original 2011 Scholastic UK boxed edition of Suzanne Collins’s landmark Hunger Games trilogy, containing The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay. Set in the dystopian nation of Panem, the trilogy follows Katniss Everdeen from the deadly televised Hunger Games arena into an increasingly dangerous struggle against the Capitol. Combining gripping adventure with themes of authoritarianism, propaganda, social inequality, war, media spectacle and personal resistance, the trilogy became one of the defining works of twenty-first-century Young Adult fiction. This is the complete three-volume English-language Scholastic edition housed in its original glossy black publisher’s slipcase featuring the gold Mockingjay emblem. The individual volumes correspond to the original UK Scholastic editions: The Hunger Games – ISBN 9781407109084 Catching Fire – ISBN 9781407109367 Mockingjay – ISBN 9781407109374 An attractive complete reading set and a desirable earlier UK boxed presentation for collectors of Suzanne Collins and modern Young Adult fiction. CONDITION Books: Very Good. Slipcase: Good. All three paperback volumes are clean, complete and in good to very good overall condition, with relatively light reading and handling wear. Spines remain presentable and bindings are sound. Interior pages appear clean, without obvious annotation or highlighting. The original publisher’s black slipcase shows noticeably more wear than the books themselves, including surface rubbing and scratches, edge and corner wear, and a circular area of old sticker/adhesive residue near the upper portion of one side. Slipcase remains structurally intact. Please examine the photographs carefully as they form part of the condition description. Descripción de la tienda
Welcome to my carefully curated collection of second-hand, vintage and collectible books, based in Leuven, Belgium. I am a private bookseller and lifelong book lover with a particular interest in unusual, distinctive and hard-to-find titles. My collection is eclectic and includes literature, philosophy, history, art and design, film and cultural studies, science, psychology, travel, Belgian and European history, vintage editions, illustrated books and other specialist non-fiction. I particularly enjoy finding books that deserve to be rediscovered: overlooked editions, unusual publications, books on niche subjects and attractive older volumes that may be difficult to find in ordinary bookshops. Every book offered here is individually inspected. I aim to describe editions and condition carefully and honestly, including significant signs of age, wear, inscriptions, missing components or other imperfections whenever applicable. Photographs show the actual book whenever possible. Books are stored with care and securely packaged for shipping. I am happy to sell internationally and welcome collectors, researchers and readers from around the world. If you have a question about an edition, its condition, contents or additional photographs, please feel free to contact me through AbeBooks. Thank you for browsing my collection, and I hope you find a book here that has been waiting for exactly the right reader. A note about our shipping rates At The Second Chapter, we know that international shipping costs can sometimes seem high, particularly for destinations outside Belgium and neighbouring countries. We deliberately use reliable, traceable shipping with Track & Trace whenever possible. This is important for both you as the buyer and us as the bookseller: your order can be followed throughout its journey, and there is clear confirmation that the parcel has been delivered. Many of the books we offer are scarce, collectible, out-of-print or otherwise difficult to replace. For that reason, we prefer not to send valuable books using cheaper untracked postal services, where neither buyer nor seller can reliably determine what has happened if a parcel is delayed or lost. Our shipping charges therefore reflect the actual cost of secure postal shipment from Belgium (Bpost) rather than being used as an additional source of profit. We always package books carefully to protect them during their journey, and we aim to combine safe packaging, reliable delivery and transparent shipping costs. If you are interested in a book but feel that the quoted shipping cost to your country is unusually high, please feel free to contact us before ordering. Where the book’s weight, dimensions, value and destination allow it, we will gladly check whether a less expensive reliable shipping option is available. Thank you for supporting The Second Chapter and for giving pre-loved books another chapter in their story.…
