As new condition color illustrated boards contained in an as new condition non price-clipped color illustrated dust jacket. Includes Author Dedication; Acknowledgments; The Rest of the Story; Places to Visit for More and Websites to Visit for More. Profusely illustrated with black-and-white photographs and color drawings. Unpaginated. "Between the fun story, the informative facts, and the amazing illustrations, The House that Ruth Built is a great introduction to baseball, Yankee Stadium, and Babe Ruth for children!" - Cassidy Lent, librarian at The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. "I have been a student of Babe Ruth and baseball almost since I learned how to read, and consider myself pretty knowledgeable. Nonetheless, there were many bits of information that Ms. Bennett managed to uncover of which I was completely unaware. I especially liked the format using sidebars so that the reader can follow the story while choosing to dig into details or not." - Tom Stevens, grandson of Babe Ruth. "Bennett hit a grand slam with this wonderfully illustrated book that tells the historic story of Yankee Stadium. The House that Ruth Built is rich with details, fascinating facts, and of course, Babe Ruth!" - Sean Holtz, webmaster of Baseball Fever and owner of Baseball Almanac, Inc. "On April 18, 1923, the New York Yankees played against the Boston Red Sox in their very first game in the brand-new Yankee Stadium. All the key players were there - future Hall of Famers Babe Ruth, Waite Hoyt, Bob Shawkey, Miller Huggins - and so were the supporters - Eddie Bennett, the legendary Yankee batboy: Jack Lenz, Yankee Stadium's first public announcer: five-year-old little Ray Kelly, Babe's lucky charm; and more than 70,000 fans! Every person in the stadium on opening day was part of this legendary event, and now you can be too." - from the inner front jacket flap.…

Descripción de la tienda
Vero Beach Books is an antiquarian bookseller with a constantly updated inventory of rare out-of-print books, signed books, children's books, plus a large inventory of ephemeral items such as major U.S. city newspapers going back 100 years and more, golden and silver age fine condition comic books (soon to be added), and many other ephemeral items as well as much more recent popular volumes. We have been in business for 25 years, originally known as Emerson Books (named after one of our owner's favorite authors, to wit, Ralph Waldo Emerson) located back then in Westport, Connecticut. That said, we are here to serve you, to offer you fine quality items that are conservatively described so that you will always be pleasantly surprised and delighted with your purchase. Twenty-five years in the bookselling business has borne out our stellar service oriented reputation; the only difference is that now we are located in the almost always sunny and warm climate of Vero Beach, Florida. Again, we are here to serve you and, as was the case when we were previously known on ABEBooks.com as Emerson Books, we will continue to offer our very popular 100% free search service for those hard to find books rare and out of print books. Oftentimes we are also able to obtain these rare finds at very good discounts to our customers' so it is always worth contacting us in such cases!
