Frederick North, second earl of Guilford, known as Lord North, (1732 1792) was Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1770 to 1782. Having lead Great Britain through most of the American War of Independence, he is also known as the minister who lost America . "The author says, that after having translated the 'View of the History of Great Britain during the Administration of Lord North', he thought he might substitute in its place a less prolix and more complete history, preserving all that was useful, agreeable, and interesting in the English work; and adding a narrative of events which would comprise a complete account of the American war" (Sabin 31901).
