Hard Cover. Condición: Good. William Westall Ilustrador. First Edition. Hard cover, quarto (measuring 8 ½ x 10 ¾ inches,) in quarter green leather with green cloth boards, the spine with five raised compartments, with a black leather label in gilt thereon. 118 pp. including 103 steel engraved views: two to a page and the vignette title page. for a total of 52 pages of tissue guarded steel engraved plates. A selection of interesting views of England, Scotland and Ireland, produced, according to the Preface, at the great expense of Six Thousand Pounds, and accompanied by descriptive essays. The artist, William Westall, (1781-1850) gained fame as the artist aboard the HMS Investigator, Sir Joseph Banks's Australian voyage of scientific discovery in the 18 'aughts. Condition: Good. Exterior has minor rubbing and bumps to corners, front board has a couple of defects as seen in the photos. There is occasional foxing: the vignette title page has the worst of it, and some plates near the beginning have moderate foxing, but intermittently. A great deal of the book has none whatsoever. As usual, there is some offset from the engravings. However, despite this, the book remains sound and tight and has a lot to offer the interested viewer. Nº de ref. del artículo: 8295
