Descripción del artículo del vendedor

Frontispiece, xix, 4 leaves, 195 pp; illus. Original cloth. Xlib: Label removed from spine, ink stamp on verso of title page. "Fifth Edition." "This edition, which is most pleasing to hand and eye, is a fine quarto volume, in red art vellum, with a cloth title-strip, and gilt tops. It contains splendid photogravure portraits. The volume is annotated liberally. To the reader not thoroughly at home in the period covered by the Cane's narrative, they are valuable, serving frequently to give point and meaning to a reference that would, otherwise, be not clear" (Robinson, p. xxvii). Copy of Henry Barton Jacobs (with his bookplate). Garrison-Morton 6709 (citing 1st ed., 1827): "This charming 'autobiography' tells of the adventures of the famous gold-headed cane, successively in possession of Radcliffe, Mead, Askew, William and David Pitcairn, and Baillie, and then retired to a glass case in the library of the Royal College of Physicians of London. Besides good biographies of the several owners of the cane, the book gives interesting information on the condition of medicine in England in the 18th century.".…
