Original illustrated wrappers. Roy. 8vo. (24 x 17 cm). In Turkish. 9, [15] p., b/w ills. and 12 numbered plates. A very good copy. Exhibition booklet of the first exhibition of measured drawings, held at the Museum of Painting and Sculpture affiliated with Dolmabahçe Palace, presenting student surveys, academic studies, and field research aimed at documenting Ottoman and early Turkish architectural heritage for public display. The exhibition included measured drawings, plans, sections, and elevation views of wooden houses, fountains, tombs, pavilions, and palace structures in Istanbul, as well as documents, photographs, and survey sketches collected from various Anatolian cities such as Bursa, Edirne, and Safranbolu. This exhibition reflects the awareness of "architectural heritage preservation" that developed from the early years of the Republic. Guided by prominent architects and academics of the period, such as Sedat Hakki Eldem (1908-1988), Tarik Carim (1923-?), and Ali Saim Ülgen (1913-1963), these works serve as valuable documentation. Many of the wooden mansions, waterside residences, and small-scale structures featured in the exhibition have since been demolished or substantially altered. Consequently, these measured drawings remain the only visual record of a lost architectural heritage. As of September 2025, OCLC records only the sole copy in Turkey, with no holdings in US libraries.
