Christie's The History of Quantum Physics and the Theory of Relativity: The Harvey Plotnick Library, 101. A scientific history for a casual reader, intended to explain the history of the evolution of famous theories in physics. Einstein and Infeld begin with the "Mechanical View" of the physical universe, the work done by Galileo and Newton, and the subsequent challenges to their work by modern physicists. The authors devote a section to the decline of the mechanical view, and proceed to explain their work on Relativity and Quanta. Einstein was famous for writing books intended to educate the public on his work and on the history of science. This volume is an example of his noble goal in making physics accessible to all readers. A name and date of 1938 on the free front endpaper and toning to the endpapers and pastedowns; dust jacket is Good or better with notable edge wear, resulting in minor loss to the spine panel and folds.
