Descripción del artículo del vendedor

153 pages. Illustrated with more than 60 collotype plates taken from illuminated MSS., prints, etc., as well as from the finest examples of the instruments themselves in museums and private collections throughout Europe and America; clavichord, virginal, spinet and harpsichord, and the early history of the pianoforte up to the year 1820. Cloth-backed boards, price-clipped dust-jacket. Bookplate of Geoffrey Clegg Hutchinson Baron Ilford (British Conservative politician 1893-1974) who has initialled and pasted to the end pastedown an extract from an auction catalogue dealing with a two-manual harpsichord "identical with my harpsichord but in poor condition." The book is generally in good plus condition but it is apparent that it has been subjected to a damp atmosphere.
