Black boards and spine, the latter lettered in silver. Price clipped jacket in clear removable sleeve, lightly foxed with wear around extremities and rubbed down sides of spine. Text block edges foxed. Internally free end papers toned. Some foxing to preliminary pages (as far as 'Taffy').only slight traces thereafter though 'Timothy' pages significantly affected. Lucy Dawson, also known as "Mac," was a preeminent British illustrator in the 1930s and 1940s revered for her paintings and etchings of dogs, from sporting and non-sporting breeds to hounds and herders. Though she worked in numerous mediums pencil, pen, ink, and oil, her pastels set her work apart. A wonderful collection by the much acclaimed illustrator. There are 16 colour illustrations and many sketches throughout the book. The book features black boards with silver lettering.The rare dustjacket is in only fair condition; there is a 1" piece missing from the top of the spine and general chipping at the edges. This was never a library book. Often copies of this book show up missing plates; please note that all 16 plates are present.
