Published in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1861, this is the First Edition of two collections of stories of Crime Cases by Lascelles Wraxall and James McLevy, McLevy was a prominent police detective in Edinburgh in the mid-19th century, whose noted criminal investigation work has been said to be a source of inspiration for Arthur Conan Doyle when he created Sherlock Holmes. The book is bound in an old cloth binding titled in gilt to the spine, 6.25 inches tall approx., the Wraxall book runs to 357 pages. The Mc?Levy book runs to 304 pages, The binding has some general rubbing wear and sunning to spine else in solid condition, internally noticeable foxing to endpapers and opening and closing few pages, else contents in nice condition.
