First edition hard back binding in contemporary red cloth covered boards, blocked and lettered gilt back, lemon end papers. 8vo. 9½'' x 6¼''. Contains red and black printed title, 426 pp + 8 pp index with many monochrome illustrations throughout. Chipping of the cloth across the spine ends, from the Natural History Archaeological Society with indigo stamp to the front end papers, two old ink names inside, repaired fraying of the cloth to the lower spine gutter.
