DIMITRY has been a professional artist and illustrator for over three decades. Accomplished in virtually all media from traditional to digital, he has produced a body of fine art ranging from contemporary works to impressionistic landscapes to prints and portraits. Dimitry's latest work is Metaspace, a series of unique contemporary observations that combines abstract and realist genres to create a new form of expression. From an early age Dimitry was inspired to create art by his grandmother, an internationally-acclaimed miniaturist whose subjects included European royalty, the Rockefellers and the Whitneys, and whose works are displayed at The National Gallery, The Merriweather Post Gallery and The Windsor Court. After graduating with a degree in marine biology Dimitry was engaged by The Gulf of Maine Aquarium to illustrate their exhibits and his work led to assignments from National Wildlife, Random House, Columbia Press, Macmillan, McGraw-Hill, Simon & Schuster and Scientific American.With a growing reputation for artistic renderings of technical subjects, Dimitry launched his career as an illustrator and designer. Already a professional artist, he attended Parsons School of Design to study under the artist and master draftsman David Passalaqua who has had a lasting impact on Dimitry's work. Bringing a powerful artistic sensibility to his work as an illustrator and designer, Dimitry has executed work for Adobe, IBM and Cablevision as well as organizations such as the Audubon Society, Harper & Row, the Harvard University Press and Smithsonian. For The New York Times, Dimitry was a long-time contributor of dramatic full-page illustrations for the front of the paper's award-winning Science Times section.Dimitry's innovation in fine art and multiple graphic media is anchored by his mastery of draftsmanship. Throughout his career, Dimitry has maintained a passionate focus on fine art and has produced diverse works commissioned by a range of clients. Today, Dimitry operates his gallery and studio in Sea Cliff, New York and also serves as an Adjunct Professor of art at the State University of New York.
