Contemporary calf rebacked, ex libris RICHARD FREEMAN with his notes, fine engraved book-plate of SAMUEL WHITBREAD, signature of JAMES TOWERSEY, CCC OXON 1741, a very good copy, ex libris RICHARD FREEMAN. *ESTC T25347. an immensely popular work, in part no doubt because Martin would have used it in his school in Chichester ['Youth are boarded very reasonably by the Author'], running to a so-called eighteenth edition in 1778. This, first, edition is rather scarce. SEE FREEMAN BNHB #2468 [with incorrect title and differing collation]. Freeman notes that editions 8 to 17 do not exist !
