Descripción del artículo del vendedor

McCarthy, Cormac. Blood Meridian; or, The Evening Redness in the West. New York: Random House, 1985. First edition, first printing. Inscribed and signed by the author on the title page to John Rice Irwin. Octavo. 337 pages. Original publisher’s quarter cloth over brown boards, gilt lettering to spine. Publisher’s dust jacket with $17.95 price present. A NF book in a NF dust jacket. The volume remains clean, tight, and square, with a small scuff to front cover. The interior is unmarked aside from the author’s inscription. The dust jacket is bright and unfaded, with modest edge wear and no significant tears or losses; unclipped. A well‑preserved, highly presentable copy. A scarce inscribed first edition of McCarthy’s masterwork, widely regarded as one of the supreme achievements of late‑twentieth‑century American literature. Published in 1985, Blood Meridian redefined the Western through its fusion of historical realism, philosophical inquiry, and uncompromising prose, exerting a profound influence on subsequent American fiction. The inscription is to John Rice Irwin (1930–2022), the founder of the Museum of Appalachia in Norris, Tennessee, and one of the most significant figures in the preservation and interpretation of Southern Appalachian history and material culture. Irwin devoted his life to documenting the lived experience, tools, music, and vernacular traditions of the rural Appalachian region, establishing the Museum of Appalachia as a nationally recognized institution for cultural history. His work emphasized historical continuity, conflict, and survival in the American borderlands—concerns that resonate powerfully with McCarthy’s literary project in Blood Meridian. Association copies of Blood Meridian are uncommon, and inscribed examples are notably scarcer than signed copies. An inscription to a major regional historian and cultural preservationist enriches the book’s provenance and situates it within a deeper context of American historical memory and regional identity. A compelling & desirable association copy of one of the most important novels of the modern American canon. I also found a Tee shirt similar to the one McCarthy is wearing in the photos. It is not his shirt. #bloodmeridian #cormacmccarthy #appalachia #Suttree.…
