Second edition. 8vo, xxiv, 258 pp., with a woodcut vignette to title, folding map as frontispiece; frontispiece spotted, offsetting to title, very small marginal hole to p. 21, otherwise internally bright; contemporary half calf with marbled sides, borders roll-tooled in gilt, skilfully rebacked, spine gilt in compartments, contemporary gilt red morocco lettering-piece relaid in one, others with gilt centre-pieces, marbled edges and endpapers, hinges reinforced with buckram; rubbed at extremities, otherwise a very good copy. This volume contains papers relating to an expedition under the command of Captain Phipps commissioned by the Government of the day. These papers were originally published in pamphlet form. Colonel Beaufoy, who published these papers, also added his own appendix on the same subject to this volume. Daines Barrington, by profession a lawyer, was always fascinated with the Arctic regions.
