Don't let your mechanic pick your pocket!: A simple guide that can save you money and keep the dishonest mechanic in line. It works for any car, truck or SUV, anywhere you live.

THIS IS THE BOOK MOST MECHANICS DON'T WANT YOU TO HAVE!"Don't let your mechanic pick your pocket" is a ground breaking new book intended for car owners who don't know much about cars, don't have time to learn or don't really care to. They will still find, however, a need to put the odds in their favor when they have to see a mechanic. “This book is designed to save its readers money and provide the knowledge needed to deal with unscrupulous repair shops found everywhere you go”, George says. "It is short, concise and straight to the point. Best of all, you won't get greasy, or in most cases even have to touch your car, AND, you don't need any mechanical background to understand it!" It was written by a retired mechanic and shop owner who is tired of seeing people ripped off by less than honest mechanics. He was constantly having to defend an honest shop because of all the crooks out there! He spent much of his shop's resources helping single moms and indigent families. He was appalled at the instances of creative bill writing and haphazard repairs by other shops, even when they knew their clients couldn't afford it. To fight back, he has spent the last two years compiling a list of the most common symptoms and what they mean. He has translated them into terms we can all understand, and put them in a book small enough to keep in the glove box for when it's really needed. You will also find helpful hints, a glossary of the most frequently used terms, what they mean and much more. The auther promises the book will easily reveal a variety of bumper-to-bumper noise, leak and vibration symptoms into understandable diagnoses. The goal is for car owners to be able to know enough of their problem and what to expect BEFORE seeing a mechanic. It also focuses on safety, maintenance and USEFUL information, including ways to help yourself if you're so inclined. He says: "The internet is full of all kinds of information about unscrupulous mechanics, detailed information on specific repairs and problems, and endless blogs and commentary on the dos and don’ts of automotive repair. There are also the sites that will help you diagnose your problem at $20.00 a pop or more, if you can get past the rabbit trails and advertisements. I’ve been through these sites, filled out the forms, taken the surveys and almost never get any useful information. Besides, when is the last time you broke down next to your computer? You can put this little book in your glove compartment and have it handy when you really need it." THIS IS THE BOOK MOST MECHANICS DON'T WANT YOU TO HAVE! "It will pay for its self over and over again", says George. This is a must for anyone who drives, anywhere in the world. Mr. Moyer has been a professional in the automotive industry for nearly forty years, an Army veteran, husband, father and grandfather. The book is informative and imminently useful. If my daughter had had this book, she could have saved her engine and $3000.”“Having no knowledge of cars, I was expecting to have trouble reading a book about car repairs. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was easy to understand and made me feel empowered to face the world of mechanics. No more rip-offs for me.”—Cindy H. Mr. Moyer was raised by a lumberjack in the mountains of north Idaho. He and his father had a small two man lumber mill on an old homestead there. He says it was a great way to grow up and taught him a lot about responsibility and work ethics. When something broke, however, the closest major parts source was 150 miles away and in another state. He learned very quickly how to fix all kinds of things with whatever was at hand. It seemed to come naturally to him. "My Mom says I was the one who had to take every toy apart to see what made it "tick" and usually was able to put it back together", says George. In Idaho, in the sixties, you could get a "daytime" drivers license at age 14. Several months before his fourteenth birthday he purchased a 1951 Chevy for $45.00 and started to fix it up. Through trial and error, he learned about adjusting valves and carburetors and the like. It was no surprise, then, that his career led him down the path of fixing cars and trucks, and he's been doing it most of his life. He's progressed from points to computers, and for nearly forty years has stayed on top of his trade. In 1995 he had the opportunity to open up his own shop, and it was an instant success that quickly grew into a 5,000 sq. ft. facility with two shifts and a customer base of roughly 1500 families and fleets. He was able to set up a car care ministry out of his shop that allowed him to donate and/or repair cars for scores of single moms and indigent families in two counties. The tragedy of 9/11 took a heavy toll on the neighborhood, with the loss of hundreds in the county where the shop was based. Between that and massive lay-offs of many major companies in the area that year, the business lost nearly half of its customers almost overnight. After 1 1/2 years of struggle, he was forced to close the shop in 2003. "It was the lowest point in my life", he says. He hasn't lost the desire to help people though, and was, therefore, inspired to write this book to help folks protect themselves in the world of automotive repair. Mr. Moyer is married for 37 years, has two children and three grand children. He is an Army veteran and active in his church and community. Three months before the shop closed, he received the United Way "Unsung Hero" award for his charitable contributions in Somerset County, N.J.. He is now on the board of directors for the pregnancy center he used to fix & donate cars for, and vows to give every single mom he meets his book.
