Wyld & Hewitt. Persia. 1820. *** Copperplate engraving with original hand coloring. A very attractive map of the Persian Empire as it was in the first half of the 19th. century. Mountain ranges are shown in bold relief, as are the rivers systems and lakes. Also depicted are the important cities and towns, and the major political divisions. To the west of Persia is the Saudi Arabian peninsula, under the control of the Ottoman Empire. In the lower left corner is a wonderful small vignette of Mt. Ararat, which was on Persia's border with Turkey. *** Crisp, clean impression with good colors. No tears, folds, or creases.
