THE DEPTH AWAKENS
Beneath the surface lies a world older than our own.
When a massive underwater volcano lifts the seafloor and causes a mysterious city to rise from the Atlantic, the greatest upheaval in human history unfolds: We are not alone. The Vel'Nathar-a highly advanced, human-like civilization that has lived in the depths of the oceans for four thousand years-are real. And they have always been here.
The first tentative attempt at diplomacy ends with a shot fired on live television. When Vel'Soran, the Vel'Nathar's envoy, is struck down before the eyes of four billion viewers, a war begins unlike any humanity has ever known-underwater, at a depth where our weapons fail and our plans are worthless.
Commander Anya Sorel, a combat diver with the secret elite unit TRIDENT, stands between two worlds. On the other side: Vel'Kaan, warlord of the Vel'Nathar, a strategist of uncanny precision and a deep mistrust he cannot shake-and perhaps does not want to shake.
As the seas burn, humanity's fleets are decimated, and the war drifts toward a fate that knows only defeat, Anya and Vel'Kaan search for a language that does not yet exist-a language in which two civilizations do not speak to one another, but listen to one another.
The Depths Awaken is a gripping, action-packed epic about war and reconciliation, about the courage to listen, and the question of what is at stake when two worlds must decide whether they are enemies or neighbors.
