I love a good story. Don’t you?

This is a collection of anecdotes and examples of mistakes non-native speakers have made in the process of learning and using English as a second language. These stories have been collected over 30 years in various countries and from numerous nationalities, and include difficulties with vocabulary, pronunciation, writing and culture. All examples have a twist - by making unintentional mistakes, non-native users of English have added a new, humorous dimension to the English language. As English is expanding at an ever-faster rate to become the world’s number one language of communication, many ’Englishes’ are evolving and this book is only a small selection of the quirky mistakes made in this process.

If you speak English as a second or third language, this book will help you avoid making the same mistakes. If you love English and appreciate its subtleties, I am sure you will enjoy this selection of genuine mistakes made by English language learners, other non-native speakers and writers of English and companies from around the world.

"Luke Zimmermann uses hilarious stories to make the teaching of language come alive. As the title promises, you will laugh about English."

Richard Lederer, author of Anguished English
