The October 1972 issue of Knight (Vol. 9, No. 7) features the first appearance of the Charles Bukowski short story, Henry Miller Lives In Pacific Palisades And I Live On Skid Row, Still Writing About Sex. The story would later be collected in Absence of the Hero (2010) Magazine is solid in Very Good + condition with a hand-written ink date on the cover, a crease on the lower-right corner, some light creases to the spine, and some wear overall. The interior pages are clean. Bukowski would appear in four issues of Knight between 1970-1972. Knight was published by Holloway House out Los Angeles. Founded in 1959, Holloway also published Adam magazine as well as biographies about Jayne Mansfield and Ernest Hemingway. After the Watts riots in 1965, the company began to focus on black writers aimed at a black working-class market, a niche filled by no other publisher. Their authors included Iceberg Slim (Robert Beck), Joseph Nazel, Leo Guild, Roosevelt Mallory, Odie Hawkins and Donald Goines. Box 22.

Soft cover. Condición: Fine. 1st Edition. Published in 1967, Intrepid 8 featured one Charles Bukowski one letter on the subject of writing poetry. Bukowski would appear in seven issues of Intrepid between 1966 and 1972. Edited by Allen De Loach in New York (issues 1-5) and then Buffalo (issues 6-41), Intrepid (1964-1980) published a large number of poets directly and indirectly associated with the New American Poetry, and especially Beat writers. Contributors included a long list of such influential figures as Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, LeRoi Jones (Amiri Baraka), Philip Whalen, William Burroughs, Diane di Prima, Charles Bukowski, Ted Berrigan, Gary Snyder, Ted Enslin, and Charles Olson. A consistent issue with Intrepid was the length of the staples in the binding, due to the thick, textured covers. Sometimes the staples barely make it through the back cover, other times the staples don't. This copy is in Fine condition with some light rubbing to the back cover. The staples made it through the back cover, but future owner should handle it lightly. Overall, a very nice copy of this important poetry journal. Box 5.
